A message left by Caleb's cousin, Justin Hale, on the home phone at Caleb's house. The message was left 3 weeks before the murders.

EMPTY CIGARETTE BOX FOUND AT SCENE

Coach Dan Whitaker's preferred brand was Marlboro, though defense pointed out the same could be said for Justin and the majority of the town. No DNA was able to be extracted from the box.
