After some digging, our podcasters uncovered compelling pieces of information about this case. Several people closest to the story shared items they’d held onto for years, some materials come from public reports released during the original investigation, and the Devil’s Branch Police Department even opened a few files that had never been shared before.

Dan Whitaker

Roosevelt High Coach

Dan was convicted of killing Michael Turner and Caleb Hale and sentenced to life in prison. He continues to claim his innocence. His attorney's have filed an appeal.

Lead Detective 

Detective Kemp grew up in another part of WV and has been in Devil's Branch for the past 8 years. He is confident in the work he has done on this case.

Justin Hale

Cousin of Caleb

Justin is Caleb's cousin. Their fathers are brothers. Justin dropped out of high school at 16 and hasn't done much but get into trouble sense.  He has shown jealously toward Caleb and Michael.  Many suspect he had something to do with their murders.
